"COMMON PROBLEMS IN ENDODONTICS FOR THE GENERAL PRACTIONER"

 

The field of endodontics can present and continues to be challenging in dentistry.  The purpose of this presentation is to discuss factors involved in decision making regarding pulpal and periodontal diagnosis, treatment planning in areas of traumatic dental injuries, cracked tooth syndrome, instrument separation, and current concepts in antibiotic therapy. 

At the conclusion of this presentation, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the challenges and diagnose, treatment plan and appropriately assess endodontic cases
  • Identify and treatment plan dental traumatic injuries accordingly
  • Identify the usage for antibiotic therapy as an adjunct to endodontic therapy

 

Esther Tam, DMD, MSD, FRCD (C) received her D.M.D.(2003), M.S.D. and certificate in endodontics (2006)  from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Tam has presented research on MTA, and oral microbiology at numerous scientific meetings in North America.  She is currently a part-time clinical instructor in endodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of British Columbia.  Dr. Tam is a member of the Canadian Dental Association, Royal College of Dentists in Canada, and American Association of Endodontists. Dr. Tam maintains a private practice in Vancouver, British Columbia.
